Questions People Have

You can book and pay online using a credit or debit card. You’ll find ‘Book This Tour’ links on this website.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept payment in cash on the day as we cannot guarantee the tour will go ahead unless customers have pre-booked.

Frome has slopes and hills, and the tours occur in all weather. So please come prepared with suitable warm and dry clothing. Wear footwear that’s suitable for uneven ground and in some cases wet conditions underfoot. We don’t recommend high heels!

It’s sensible to check the weather forecast on the day. But unless it’s storm force eight, the tour will go ahead.

Apart from the Pub and History Tour (obviously!), the tours are completely outdoors. We aim to guide you through the highlights of the attractions of the city so that you can explore them internally in your own time.

We finish our tours at a suitably central spot, and along the way your guide will suggest additional places to explore.

Yes we can. Your guide is a local and will be able to make recommendations based on your tastes.

Tell us what you fancy, and we can point you in the direction of traditional pubs, cocktail bars, and a range of places to eat after your tour.

The pace of the tour isn’t demanding – we stop regularly and walk for no longer than 5 minutes at a time. But we will certainly pause for rest if needed. Please be aware of your own abilities to see whether the tour is right for you.

Your guide is trained in outdoor first aid, but you’re responsible for managing your own safety on the tour.

Please contact us to advise of any conditions or requirements before the tour.

Sorry, but no. The natural geography of the town with its cobbles and slopes means we encounter steps and uneven terrain in some places.

But we’d still like to help you explore Frome and will try to accommodate your requirements. Please contact us to discuss how we can tailor a tour to meet your mobility requirements.

Our walking tours aren’t designed for children, and some of them deal with subjects such as ghosts and murders. However, you know your child best. If your child is 13+, they’re interested in the tour topic, and want to walk about with us for 60 – 90 minutes, they are certainly welcome.

Certainly! We love dogs at Walkabout Frome. The town streets do get a little busy, so please be mindful of crowds and some streets where there is traffic.

However, we fully encourage you bring your dog (free of charge of course) and we will even offer a treat or two to keep those paws bounding along.

All pubs on the Pub and History Tour are dog friendly. They may get busy so please be mindful of this if your dog is nervous in crowds.

Your guide will be ultra-conscious of the need to keep everyone together.

So if you are delayed by traffic lights changing, for example, don’t worry. The guide will be waiting for you on the other side of the street.

Also, you’ll have our phone number so you won’t be left behind.

Frome has several car parks. We’ll provide suggestions when you book.

Yes. We offer a tailor-made version of our tours, and also bespoke tours that match your specific requirements. Just let us know what you want and we can arrange it.

For craft experiences, we need to contact the craftsperson to see if they’re available on the date you’re seeking.

If you need to cancel your booking, please contact us no later than 72 hours before the tour is due to start. We will give you a full refund.

If you cancel your booking after that, we regret you won’t be eligible for a refund.

If we have to cancel (for example, due to your guide being ill or lack of demand for a specific tour), we’ll issue a full refund plus a discount voucher.

Great. Contact us by phone, or the form on the Contact page.
